Estate & Trust Administration

Our Firm has an established record of closing decedents’ estates in a timely and thorough manner. Our working knowledge of the relevant estate and income tax laws, and our dedication to remaining current as those laws change, ensure that our clients are always being properly guided in the most tax beneficial manner. Our attorneys are distinctively qualified to handle all aspects of the estate administration process. In the context of representing the fiduciary of a probate estate, we will draft the required probate documents, including inventories and accountings, and will represent the client at any hearings before the probate court. Preemptively, we strategize to avoid the need for probate hearings whenever possible. Our Firm prepares both the Connecticut and Federal estate tax returns, and fiduciary income tax returns for estates and trusts.

As a firm, we also feel it is important to take a step back and recognize that, while estate tax and probate matters are being dealt with, there is also usually a grieving family member or friend who has been named in a Will or Trust to undertake the duty of executor or trustee. Our estate administration team makes it a priority to extend patience and understanding to these clients whenever possible. We support our clients, lessen the administrative burden for them, and, of course, give them the legal advice they need in order to carry out their fiduciary responsibilities.

“What makes greatness is starting something that lives after you.”
